Extended-Release Metformin

Diabetes Care recently reported that the extended-release version of the popular diabetes medication metformin, is a safe and effective way to treat people with Type 2 diabetes.

This version of metformin, called Glumetza-Depomed, was tested on 750 adults newly diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in over 85 clinics across America. The group that benefited the most in the various trials of immediate-release and extended-release metformin was the group who took 2000 mg. of the extended-release once daily.

An additional advantage was better compliance with the once daily dosage.
