PROCEDURES FOR SEWAGE PERMIT IN BULLITT COUNTY
Come into the Bullitt County Health Department between 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., Monday through Friday: and 6 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday, to pick up an application for site evaluation. For more information, please call 502-955-7867.
A. When completing the site evaluation application you will need:
a. A map with directions to the proposed property.
b. A drawing of the site. This can be a copy of the plat or a sketch showing the location of the house. Any easements, roads, streams, right-of-ways, or ponds should be noted. If this is hand-drawn, make sure it is signed and dated.
c. Check if the structure is a house or commercial building.
d. Check in one of the two boxes if you wish to be or not present for the site evaluation.
B. After completing the application you will need:
a. Check, or cash made out to the Bullitt County Health Department. At this time, an appointment date and time will be set. This appointment may be cancelled due to inclement weather, such as snow or rain. If these conditions exist, you should verify your appointment (543-2415 or 955-7837).
b. Before the environmentalist comes to the proposed site, you will need to make sure that your lot is clearly marked, with all property lines designated. A backhoe must be present to dig the pits. The pits will be at least 4 feet deep X 2 feet wide and be accessible to the environmentalist. A minimum of three pits will be dug.
C. After the site evaluation is completed, and you receive the system requirements, you will need:
a. Have a certified installer submit a drawing of the site which should include the proposed structure location and size, and the proposed lateral field to be installed.
b. Building or house plans (blueprints) and a footprint will need to be seen by the environmentalist prior to sewage permit approval.
i. Building or house plan blueprints should include:
1. Square footage of structure.
2. Shape of structure
3. Dimensions of structure.
ii. The footprint should include:
1. Structure location on lot
2. All setbacks from property lines
3. Any additions to the lot (unattached garages, deck, sheds)
c. A sewage permit will be issued, (building permits can not be issued without a sewage permit) after building/house plans have been reviewed, and installer drawings is approved.
d. The sewage permit will cost $100.00
e. After system has been installed, your installer will call for an inspection.
