Cathy M. Roby will retire on July 31, 2007, after over 31 years as a Health Department employee. Cathy has been a once-in-a-lifetime employee: dedicated, caring, knowledgeable, concerned, organized, and on top of everything. We’ll miss her a lot, me most of all, as I have counted on her for so much. We’ll celebrate Cathy’s retirement on Tuesday, July 31, in the James R. Cundiff conference room here at the Health Dept. from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Construction on the new Annex is moving briskly ahead. Move-in date continues to be August 16, 2007. The building will house our Environmental, HANDS, and Health Education branches in it’s 5,660 square feet. It will contain much-needed additional storage space and a community room/classroom that will seat fifty people. The Annex has been constructed so that it might accommodate a second floor in the future.
This is the time of the year when we perform a lot of school physicals. If your child is due for one, call us now at 955-7837 to make an appointment. If you wait too long, you might not be able to get one before school begins.
Extreme drug resistant tuberculosis is rearing it’s ugly head in the U.S., and the thought of it spreading is of grave concern to public health officials everywhere. This is a disease which we must monitor very closely on behalf of the health of our citizens.
I hope your summer is joyful, replete with all that you have hoped for.
