We are so excited to have Connie Hester join our HANDS family! Connie will be case managing families as a Family Support Worker and will also meet prospective families and perform assessments under the Parent Visitor role. Connie is a nurse and comes to us from Hosparus where she has had experience working with families in their homes and in healthcare facilities. Connie has been married for 35 years and has 1 daughter and 2 sons. Connie has 3 grandsons and is expecting (well, her daughter is expecting) triplets in early 2009! All girls!!! WELCOME CONNIE!!

FAMILIES BUILDING ON SUCCESS will have their first meeting January 5, 2009. This is the extension to the HANDS program which serves first time parents in all counties in Kentucky. Families Building on Success was presented to Dr. Steve Davis during his visit to the Bullitt County Health Dept. earlier this year. Dr. Davis was supportive of the idea to offer an opportunity to those families that have achieved graduation status through the HANDS program to continue to receive services until their child turns 3. Families that have participated in the HANDS program and have moved through the levels generally graduate when their child turns 2 years of age. Families Building on Success will schedule monthly meetings with families in a group setting and these meetings will be held at the Bullitt County Health Dept. Bullitt County will be the “pilot site” for this extended service.  We continue to see wonderful progress made within the Bullitt County community regarding parents positive involvement in their child’s growth and development. Both the HANDS Program and the newly founded Families Building on Success are not income based and are free to participants. For further information please call 955-5668.
