The HANDS (Health Access Nurturing Development Services) came to Bullitt County in June 2001. HANDS is a voluntary program offered to families expecting their first baby. HANDS is available in all 120 Kentucky counties and has been recognized as the largest successful home visitation program in the United States. Many other states within the U.S. are inquiring about the HANDS program with the idea to offer similar services. To date hundreds of families within Bullitt County have received some form of service from HANDS and 68 children and their families have completed the program and graduated! The next graduation is scheduled for May 13 where another 6 children and their families to graduate bringing the accumulative total to 74! The HANDS staff really enjoys sharing in the pride and accomplishments of these families and feels HANDS educates and prepares parents in the parenting role which in turn prepares children for being successful in school and life. HANDS encourages referrals from all sources and you may contact the HANDS office at 502-955-5668. |
