The Center for Disease Control has identified Six Winnable Battles in Public Health. The Six Winnable Battles include: 1) Hospital Associated Infections, 2) HIV/AIDS, 3) Motor Vehicles Injuries, 4) Obesity/Nutrition/Physical Activity, 5) Pregnancy, 6) Tobacco. Currently, we are ranked 17th in the state out of 120 counties according to the County Health Rankings. But, we are losing ground in obesity, nutrition, physical activity, adult smoking, and physical environment (includes access to recreational facilities). The first step includes community partners collaborating with the Bullitt County Health Department to improve the public health system by providing greater access to care, bike lanes, expanding roads and side walks, and greater land usage for recreational facilites. We can achieve greater heights by working together for the common goal... a safe and healthier community!
